Cleaning Your Teeth & Aligners Is Easy

Cleaning Your Teeth & Aligners Is Easy

When using Invisalign® to help correct your orthodontic issues, it's important to keep your teeth and aligners clean. Our Langley dentists explain how to care for your smile and aligners while undergoing Invisalign treatment.

Removable Aligners to Straighten Your Smile

Keeping your teeth and gums healthy as you straighten your smile is easy with Invisalign's removable clear aligners!

Unlike traditional orthodontic treatment using braces, with Invisalign you can thoroughly clean your teeth without any special brushes or tools.

Simply remove your aligners, place them in the container provided to keep them safe, then brush and floss your teeth as normal. After you've finished cleaning your teeth, take a minute to clean your aligners then pop them back in place. Day-to-day oral hygiene is as easy as that!

Clean Your Teeth Whenever You Eat

Remember that throughout your Invisalign treatment, whenever you remove your aligners you should take the time to brush and floss your teeth thoroughly before placing the aligners back on your teeth. Cleaning before returning your aligners to your mouth helps to prevent any food particles and bacteria from getting trapped between your aligners and your teeth which could lead to tooth decay, gum disease, or bad breath.

Keeping Your Aligners Clean & Clear

Over the course of your Invisalign treatment, you will want to keep the aligners as clean and clear as possible. Use a mild soft soap (not toothpaste) and a soft bristled toothbrush to gently remove any plaque or bacteria that may have built up on your aligners.

Soaking Invisalign aligners regularly (but briefly) in Invisalign cleaning crystals, denture cleaner, Retainer Brite, or plain white vinegar can help to keep your aligners sanitized and remove any stubborn buildup.

If you happen to remove your aligners but don't have your cleaning tools handy, take the time to rinse your aligners under warm (not hot) running water before placing them back on your teeth.
